Washtech was originally founded in New Zealand as Wash Systems Limited in 1981 by Des and Gary Brent. After identifying an unfulfilled market segment, they released their first undercounter dishwasher, assembled in Des' single car garage. Almost four decades later, Washtech is the largest manufacturer of professional dishwashing equipment in Australasia, with a broad product line that includes commercial undercounters, passthroughs, warewashers and rack conveyors.
In 1989, Wash Systems Limited expanded to Australia, where the brand name Washtech was adopted. A few years later, Australian sales exceeded those in New Zealand, and the company was officially renamed to Washtech Limited. In 1999, Washtech joined Ali Group, whose portfolio of brands makes it the world's largest manufacturer of hospitality equipment. In doing so, Washtech partnered with its new sister company Moffat, who assumed responsibility for distribution and service of Washtech equipment in Australia.
Washtech is proud of our near 40 year history providing locally engineered dishwashing solutions to Australasian businesses and community organisations. To this day, Washtech equipment continues to be engineered and manufactured in New Zealand for the unique conditions of the Australasian market.
